To reduce the dropout rate of young people in education.
"MY WAY" was a "Leonardo da Vinci - Transfer of Innovation" project, developed in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission and based on the "Council Recommendation" of 28 June 2011 on policies to reduce Early School Leaving.
The project aimed to:
For many young people, especially for young people with special education needs or difficult socio-economic background the interface between lower secondary education and the entrance into the labour market is a sensible stage of development. The high risk to drop out of education or training without having a job often has serious consequences for the whole life of young people.
Low levels of education also have high economic and social consequences for the society.
Starting from this perspective, the project partnership (consisting of six organizations from Austria, Germany, Italy, Malta, Poland and Spain and one associated partner from Austria) aims to offer young people at risk, young people with special education needs or difficult socio-economic background good perspectives in the labour market.
The project intends to implement and develop the Austrian “Youth Coaching” Model (based on counselling, case management and career planning) trying to answer to one of the biggest challenges in European countries on how to reach young people and how to motivate youth at risk for education and trainings programs.
MY WAY wants to combine Youth Coaching with Peer-Group Workshops as an instrument to reach and motivate young people, so optimizing the Austrian Model by the influence of European good practices within the network and transferring it in the partners’ countries. MY WAY intends to develop a participative intervention to reduce the dropout rate of young people in education.
